How to play Golf Solitaire

Golf Solitaire has you clearing seven columns of five cards each onto a waste pile by playing cards one rank above or below the current waste top. Ace and King are adjacent — the sequence wraps around — so a King can play on an Ace and vice versa. When no column card plays, draw from the stock for a new waste card.

The rules in short

  1. Seven columns of 5 cards each (35 cards), all face-up. The first stock card starts the waste; 16 more remain in the stock.
  2. Play any top column card that is one rank higher or lower than the waste top. Suit and color do not matter.
  3. King and Ace are adjacent: a King plays on an Ace, and an Ace plays on a King.
  4. When no column card can be played, draw from the stock to add a new waste card.
  5. The stock is gone through once. When the stock is empty and no column card plays, the game ends.
  6. You win by clearing all 35 column cards.

Questions

Does suit matter in Golf?

No. Only the rank matters: one higher or lower than the waste top, with Ace and King connecting.

Can I go through the stock more than once?

No. Each stock card is turned over once. When the stock is empty and no play is available, the game ends.

Does King wrap around to Ace?

Yes. On this board King and Ace are adjacent in both directions, so a King plays on an Ace and an Ace plays on a King.
