How to play Yukon Solitaire

In Yukon all 52 cards are dealt face-down into seven columns at the start — no stock pile. Most columns also get five cards dealt face-up on top, and you can move any face-up card together with every card resting on it, even when those cards are not in sequence. The goal is to build the four foundations up by suit from Ace to King.

The rules in short

  1. Seven columns, 52 cards total, no stock. Column 1: 1 face-up card. Columns 2–7: a growing stack of face-down cards (1–6) plus 5 face-up cards on top.
  2. Build columns down in alternating colors: a red Jack on a black Queen, for example.
  3. Move any face-up card plus every card on top of it to a legal destination, regardless of whether those cards form a proper sequence.
  4. A card or group can move to a column whose top card is one rank higher and the opposite color.
  5. Only a King or a King-led group fills an empty column.
  6. Move each Ace to a foundation as it appears, then build up by suit to the King.

Questions

Do the face-up cards above my selected card have to be in order?

No. Yukon lets you move any face-up card and everything above it as one group, even when those cards are a jumbled mix.

Is there a stock to draw from in Yukon?

No. Every card is on the table from the first move. You work only with what you can see and what is still face-down.

What can fill an empty column?

Only a King, or a group whose bottom card is a King.
