Learn Aces Up

Aces Up is a quick one-deck card game played with four piles. You deal one card to each pile, discard any top card that has a higher card of the same suit showing on another pile, and deal again when you run out of moves. The Ace counts as the highest card, so it can never be discarded, and you win when the deck is used up and only the four Aces are left, one in each pile.

A game takes a few minutes, and the rules are simple enough to learn in a single hand. The skill is in the empty piles: when a pile clears, you may move any top card into it, and choosing which card to move is the main decision the game offers. Luck decides a lot, so expect to lose more hands than you win, and enjoy the ones that come out.

The rules guide below explains the layout, the three kinds of move, where this board differs from some printed rules, and walks through the opening of a real deal card by card.
